The Complete J.S. Bach Sonatas

for Violin and Harpsichord

We are happy to announce that 3 of 6 of the Sonatas have been recorded: Sonatas in b minor, A major, and c minor. The final recording will be on a modern piano, a beautiful Steinway D which lives in Joe Patrych's sound studio (www.patrych.com). However, we did get a chance to experiment on a harpsichord at our residency at Avaloch Farm in October, 2017 (www.avalochfarmmusic.org) .

In the video below we attempt to get as 'Baroque' as we possibly can with the addition of the Harpsichord, a shorter bow (notice the bow grip as compensation for a  short Baroque bow), and period practice in terms of vibrato and other ornamentation.

We cannot stress enough that this was merely a very interesting experiment, since neither of us have taken courses in historical period practice.  That being said, we enjoyed the experience immensely and, I think, came out the other end with a better approach to Bach.
